POSITION TITLE: Mechanic

REPORTS TO: Mechanic Coordinator or Designee

F.L.S.A. STATUS: Non Exempt

PERIOD: 60 Day Probationary

 

 

SUMMARY

Maintain and service district vehicles (Buses/Cars/Vans) to operating excellence to ensure no problem or interruptions to the educational process.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carry out oral and written instructions, and maintain accurate records.

Must be physically able to do climbing, standing, lifting, and bending for extended periods of time.

Must be able to repair electrical equipment, fuel injectors and pumps, complete electrical systems, airs and hydraulic brake systems, rebuild front and rear suspension, replace all drive train components, slight body work also fabrication and tow truck duties.

Ability to comply with safety regulations and environmental laws.  

Record keeping skills and the ability to compute mathematical data accurately. 

Perform all other duties as assigned.  

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Preferred to have at least three (3) years of experience in automotive vehicle maintenance work, or at least 18 months Automotive schooling and/or a 2 year Trade School certificate. This may include experience in diesel and gas engine management systems; anti-lock brakes system; emission control systems; engine diagnostic equipment; air brakes; welder and cutting torches. 

Must be able to successfully pass an annual physical examination required by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Must be able to provide your own hand tools.

Will need to be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment.  Must be able to obtain an Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (C.D.L.) Class A with school passenger endorsement within 120 days of appointment.

Be able to obtain First aid, CPR, and OSHA certification once hired.
